Bringing the facility to the same standards
Ganesha High School is going to be spruced up and the first improvement project will be the renovation of the school’s Nancy J. McCracken Stadium.
The facility officially became the school’s home field recently after years of being shared by Ganesha and three other district high schools.
The goal is to upgrade the stadium in time for the start of the 2015 football season, said Leslie Barnes, assistant superintendent of business services and chief financial officer, this week.
The project, which will cost of about $2 million, will involve bringing the facility to the same standards as the stadiums at Diamond Ranch, Garey and Pomona High Schools.
By fall 2015 Ganesha will have a new track, artificial turf and a new scoreboard, Barnes said.
Construction is expected to begin around April, she said. Construction should go quickly since Ganesha already has spectator seating and a concessions stand, which the other campuses lacked.
Plans for the project have been approved by the state’s Department of General Services, Division of the State Architect, Barnes said. Plans for Ganesha’s stadium improvements were submitted when plans for the other schools were submitted. Construction for those facilities began spring 2013 and were completed by fall of the same year.
